a sad piece of unfinished business from america's first war with iraq back in 1991 was officially closed today. the pentagon says the remains of navy pilot michael scott spieker have been found near the wreckage of his plane in anbar province in western iraq. kimberlie dozier has more and what it means for the family spieker left behind. >> reporter: navy captain michael scott spieker has been found at last, ending an almost two decade long wait for his family. the first american casualty of the gulf war was found buryed it in the desert west of baghdad near the wreckage of his f-18 hornet. u.s. marines found bone and dental fragment identified by pentagon pathologists, they were led by an iraqi who said he was there when -- >> he remembered a plane going down and he remembered them burying the body. the captain was shot down on january 17th, 1919 two hours after the war began. >> i'm scott spieker. >> reporter: the 33-year-old father of two was not supposed to fly that day. >> i would also like to say hello to my wife. >> reporter: his ship mates told "60 minutes" he refused to be left
